Itinerary

09:00–09:45 Welcome & Icebreaker

Quick intro game (“One Line Film Pitch”), overview of the day, safety & respect when working outdoors.

09:45–10:45 Filmmaking Techniques 101 (equipment is provided)

-Three basic rules of cinema for beginners? Guesses first?

-Camera basics: framing, shot types (wide, mid, close-up).

-Exercise – Film a sequence in three shots.

-View films

10:45-11.00 Break

11.00-11.30 DSLR camera intro

-Digital vs celluloid as a concept.

- Setting up the camera - strap, battery, card.
- Tripod, focus, sound
- Quick role presentation: director, camera, presenter, sound.

11.30-11:50. Exposure Triangle

11:50-12:20 Shot treasure hunt

12:20-1pm Story Foundations and start writing

- Discuss shorts that were sent by email.
- Introduce key storytelling principles: theme, structure (beginning–middle–end), point of view, message.
- Brainstorm story ideas inspired by local surroundings (trees, insects, water, weather, etc.).

-Write your plan. Shots needed? Narration?

1:00-1.45 Working lunch (please bring your own)

1:45–3:00. Filming: Capture Your Story

- Students work in small groups (2–4).
- Film short segments for their chosen mini-story.
- Capture B-roll (close-ups of nature textures, movement, weather, etc.).
- Record short interviews or voiceover.

3.00-3.15. Break

3:15 – 4:30. Rough Edit & Story Assembly (Group Review)

- Gather footage, preview clips.
- Discuss what works, what needs extra shots.
- Introduce the concept of editing for structure (start–middle–end).
- Voiceover/narration recording

4:30-5:00. Wrap-Up & Sharing

- Groups share favourite shots or read their narration.
- Brief reflection: “What surprised you most about filmmaking?”

Later date.

- I will send the final films to all participants
